OCTO MODBUS · PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
1. Operator and privacy officer
The operator responsible for personal information and the privacy officer is Yoonhwan Kim, representative of OctoBrain (OctoBrain Softworks). Send privacy inquiries and rights requests to support@octo-brain.com.
2. Information processed and purposes
| Purpose | Information |
|---|---|
| Purchase verification and license key issuance | Purchaser name and email, order and product details, payment status, license key |
| PC activation and transfer | Hashed device ID, activation and deactivation records and timestamps |
| Refunds, abuse prevention, and customer support | Order and purchaser information, license status, and inquiry details needed to handle the request |
Information is processed as needed to issue keys, enforce the one-PC limit, transfer a license to another PC, handle refunds, prevent abuse, and provide customer support.
Original hardware information and Modbus values read in Octo Modbus are not sent to the license server. Lemon Squeezy directly processes card information during payment; card information is not stored on the Octo Modbus license server. Payment-related information is subject to Lemon Squeezy’s own processing and retention practices.
3. Retention and data subject rights
License information and activation or deactivation records needed to issue and maintain a perpetual license, provide support, and transfer a license to another PC are retained while the license agreement remains in effect. When a license ends or a deletion request is received, information that is no longer needed is deleted without undue delay.
Under Article 6 of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, applicable transaction records are retained separately for: advertising records, 6 months; contracts and withdrawal of subscription records, 5 years; payment and supply records, 5 years; and consumer complaint or dispute handling records, 3 years. These legally retained records are separated from operational license data with restricted access and are deleted without undue delay when the applicable retention period ends or the retention obligation no longer applies.
After verifying your identity, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, or suspension of its processing by emailing support. We review requests subject to legal exceptions and third-party rights. Deletion may prevent online license activation or PC transfer support. Records subject to statutory retention are kept separately to the extent required by law.
Security measures
TLS is used for license communications, access to the license API is restricted, and PC identification uses a hashed device ID instead of original hardware information. Deletion requests are handled by manually deleting the information from operational services. Records that must be retained by law are separated and access-restricted. Copies that cannot be immediately deleted from backups are kept separate from operational data, are not restored or used for ordinary operations, and are deleted when the applicable backup cycle ends.
4. International processing, transfers, and outsourcing
International processing and storage outsourced as necessary to conclude and perform the license agreement are based on Article 28-8(1)(3)(a) of the Personal Information Protection Act (disclosure in the privacy policy) and item (b) (notice of transfer details by email or another prescribed method). This policy is published, and transfer details are also sent by email when applicable, such as when a purchase email is sent.
For service providers acting as processors on our behalf, the retention period is until the entrusted purpose is fulfilled or the outsourcing relationship ends. A provider’s own policies separately govern information it processes for its independent purposes or as the seller.
